There’s something about the change of seasons that always has me reaching for something light, bright, and fresh. Each of these scents begins with a certain freshness perfect for spring, before crescendoing into something woodsy and musky. If you’re looking to brighten things up for spring, read on for a few of my top picks:
Inspired by the spirit of travel, the main notes of this fragrance are bergamot, juniper berries, and lemon with incense, orris, and pine needle at the heart and amber, sandalwood, and vanilla at the base. On me, this one wears heavy on the vanilla with a deliciously smoky cedar and sandalwood and a slight freshness of lemon. I always find myself gravitating towards Gypsy Water as the weather gets warmer or whenever I travel.
Deep, luminous, and warm, Chanel Coco Noir is one of my all-time favourites. On me, I get a lot of sandalwood and incense with a beautifully soft blend of rose and jasmine and a hint of fresh grapefruit on top, making this mysterious floral a perfect choice for a date night.
Out of all the Byredo scents I’ve tried Mojave Ghost is definitely one of the most unique. Difficult to describe, it’s slightly woody, slightly floral, with a touch of very soft, yet somehow crisp musk. This one dries down to be slightly soft and sweeter than when first applied and I love to wear it during the daytime.
This one seems to be quite a polarizing scent. A lighter, fresher update to Chanel No. 5, I get a lot of fresh, green, citrusy notes with the signature Chanel aldehydes. Some find it too powdery. For me, this fragrance reminds me of London on a drizzly fall day.
I was recently introduced to this house from my sales associate at Saks and been obsessed every since. Cologne 352 is the signature scent of the house’s rue Saint-Honoré boutique, but it’s ultimately Italy you’ll be transported to when you wear this fragrance. Imagine strolling through a Tuscany garden on a warm and bright summer morning. It begins with a delicate splash of lemon, followed by a delicious orange blossom heart, with a subtle base of creamy cedar and musk. It sits close to the skin (which is my favourite kind of fragrance), so it wears more like a skin enhancer than a traditional fragrance. Deeply addictive, picture your boyfriends crisp white linen shirt. You’ll be stopping yourself from sniffing your arm all day.
