I love natural skincare. But for every feel-good label claiming something “paraben-free”, “all-natural”, and “100% organic”, let’s face it; when it comes to delivering a luxury experience, most natural products just don’t live up to their synthetic counterparts.
For my skincare, I try to apply the same routine as I do my nutrition and wellness; it’s about balance; a solid foundation of clean, all-natural products, a little pop of Chanel every now and then.
But it was the products in the former category I was struggling to find. The problem is that most natural skincare is ho-hum at best, and a hot mess at worst. This all changed when I was introduced to Kjaer Weis on my last trip to NYC.
In true Danish style, the range of products offered by Weis are an inextricable blend of form and function. Each item’s packaging is not only beautiful to look at, (you’ve likely seen packaging designer Marc Atlan’s work before – think those chic Come des Garçons perfume bottles) but feels hefty and luxurious. And when it comes to function, these all-natural, 100% organic products finally provide luxury with a clear conscious. Here are a few of my favourite things:
My go-to facial oil has been Goop’s Enriching Face Oil since it launched. Lately however, it seems my skin hasn’t been loving it as much as it once has, perhaps the inevitable fatigue that comes along with using a skincare product for so long. In any case, I decided to pick up The Beautiful Oil the last time I was at Barney’s. I don’t think I’ve known the true power of a facial oil until now. This product is a true treat for the skin. I use it as a moisturizer on its own during the day and apply after my night cream in the evening. The effect is smoothing, plumping, and luminous, without any of the greasy or oily aftereffects.
I love cream blushes, but most are either too oily and tend to fade away but mid-morning, or are too dry. Not so with this one; a dewy, youthful pop of colour that’s very natural looking and stays put for hours. Plus the range of colours are perfect; I have the shade Blossoming and it’s the quintessential flush of summer colour that can also be used as a lip tint.
Think of this foundation like a flexible concealer. It’s naturally very pigmented, yet doesn’t look like you’re wearing a mask. I’m in the shade Like Porcelain, and the effect is something of a your-skin-but-better look. The best part? Not only is the packaging gorgeous, but is also sustainable, so once you run out you’ll only ever need to purchase a refill.
